Surf Wars

Jim, a fiercely proud but slightly delusional small-time businessman, runs “Jim’s Creamery” from a battered dinghy at Manly’s boat ramp. Alongside his artsy apprentice, Willy (aka Wanksy), Jim sees himself as a local legend in a ‘cutthroat’ industry - even though the competition is almost non-existent. When an elderly ex-rival, Sharon, sells her boat to a newcomer named Darren, Jim’s fragile sense of dominance is threatened. A one sided ‘surf war’ begins, escalating into absurd sabotage and beachside antics. Through affectionate parody of Australian stereotypes, the film celebrates the humour, ego, and charm of local characters we all recognise from our own lives - all exposed through the literal and figurative lens of a documentary crew.
